At about 20 minutes from the chalet, we head for the little valley of the Tourot.
This 20 km2 little valley is entirely situated within the National Park of Les Ecrinsand is part of the village of Le Périer.
We’re on our way to the ice cascade and the two villages of Confolens (Confolens le bas and Confolens le haut). A little walk with a difference in height of 400 m that only takes half a day if you don’t go to the Brèche du Périer that allows you, among other things, to reach the valley of Lauvitel en Oisans.
Departure from the chalet heading for the village of Le Périer
We chose to go on the forest path but it is wiser to choose the forest road that is far less icy !
In the distance the cascade of Confolens that we discover through the fog.
A well known site for rock-climbing ... In this month of May, the ice has started to melt
..
Confolens le bas ...
60 inhabitants used to live in Confolens le bas (1133 m) in the middle of the 19th century,
Nowadays, the village still has a few relatively well kept houses ...
There are no permanent inhabitants anymore ...
On our way to Confolens le haut
The chamois, roebucks and wildboars have settld in the valley but so have the eagles ...
Confolens le bas vu de Confolens seen from above
On our way down, two chamois are looking for food on the ground where snow has barely dissappeared.
A clearing ...
